Vietnam welcomed over 4.6 million foreign tourists in the first quarter of this year, up 72% year-on-year.

The total number of international tourists in 2023 is estimated at 12.5 million, meeting the targeted 12.5-13 million foreign arrivals for the year. Total revenue from tourism is expected to be 672 trillion VND (28 billion USD), exceeding the plan by 3.38%.

Foreign arrivals to Vietnam were estimated at 7.83 million in the first eight months of 2023, a 5.4-fold surge compared to the same period last year but still just 69.2% of the figure in the first eight months of 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Foreign arrivals to Vietnam were estimated to have hit 6.6 million in the first seven months of 2023, surging 6.9-fold compared to the same period last year but still only 67.5% of the figure in the first seven months of 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Foreign arrivals to Vietnam surged in the first five months of this year.

The number of foreign arrivals to Vietnam in the first quarter of this year jumped 89.1 percent year-on-year to 91,000 as the country has fully reopened and many international flights have been restored, according to General Statistics Office (GSO).

Vietnam welcomed a record 1.8 million foreign arrivals in November, according to General Statistics Office.

The tourism sector has reached its target of receiving 5.7 million foreign tourists set out in the municipal Party Committee’s resolution on tourism development in 2016-2020 two years ahead of schedule.
